Mexico, 13 years
Nominated by Escuela Secundaria Técnica NO. 6
Issue: Child Participation
Poor children should not do the hard work, since they do not have the resources that children with better economic possibilities have to fall back on.
Diana, 13, lives in Mexico, mostly with her grandmother, while her single mother works and studies. Diana works hard at school and defends not just her own rights, but also those of other children. She always tries to help anyone who is experiencing injustice and fights hard against all forms of child labor. Diana wants to be a good person who makes the world a better place, and she has started by teaching the children in her own family about their rights and responsibilities.
