I believe that every child has the potential to bring change. They just need the motivating factors.

Dikshya's story

Dikshya lives in Nepal. Being a girl child in Nepal is hard. There is still a lot of gender inequality. Dikshya has been actively engaging in environmental clubs and child rights discussions, which made her a role model for other students. In 2017, she was part of a Glocal Teen Conference, organized by Glocal Pvt Limited, where children could share their thoughts about leadership, social impact and empowerment. Together with her friends she tries to raise awareness on the issue of early marriage. As a result, the prevalence of early marriage is decreasing. She has also been an active member of the Children’s Eco Club, with which she has been working on keeping the school environment clean. Together with her friends, she ensured that there are enough dustbins around the school. They have also been running awareness programs to reduce the use of junk food, since junk food is often packaged in environment unfriendly material. In the future Dikshya wants to bring some change in the society she lives in.
