Francis's story

Francis, 15, lives in Kenya, in a community where child abuse is common. His violent environment motivated Francis to fight for children’s rights and to teach children how to exercise them. As school president, he convened a parents’ meeting to discuss child protection, urging parents to play an active role in protecting the rights of their children. He has also engaged children in forums on children’s rights, teaching them about their rights. This has led to more children reporting cases of abuse. During the dry season, he lobbied successfully for food to help hungry children at school.
