Georgina's story

Georgina, 14, lives in Mexico. She has been working hard for years to improve children’s lives; at the age of 9 she played an active role in the Children’s Parliament of Mexico, organizing campaigns to help the most vulnerable children in society, and enhancing child participation. She has organized a host of initiatives, such as Saving Boys and Girls, where schools held conferences addressing bullying; Ensure Smiles, Donate Toys, where 7000 toys were collected and distributed to vulnerable children from remote areas; and NUTRIKIDS, where free lunch packages were provided at school. She has volunteered to help the victims of natural disasters, and worked hard to encourage political engagement and participation among children and young people. She was awarded the National Youth Prize in 2017 for her activities.
