Having a disability is not an obstacle. No matter who you are, a small change can make a big difference: you just have to believe in yourself and believe in your dreams.

Jane's story

Being born blind has not stopped 18-year-old Jane, from Mauritius, from exploring her talents to the full. She is a celebrated singer and has dedicated herself to fundraising and raising awareness about disability. In 2014 she performed her first solo concert in Mauritius, the profits of which were used to buy equipment for the local school for the blind. She also participated in Les Resto du Coeur to raise funds for homeless people, and she raised money to send a group of young musicians to the World Jazz Festival in Cuba. She has received many accolades, including a nomination for UNESCO’s Artist for Peace Award in 2017. She is studying to become a lawyer to defend the interests of disabled people.
