My fight, my hands, my body and my talent are for transforming the lives of all those who, without wanting it, have become the victims of this absurd conflict.

Jhonnier's story

Jhonnier, 18, was forced, due to conflict, to leave his native Colombia, living for a time as a refugee in Ecuador. He was able to return a year ago, and lives with his brothers, father and grandparents. Ever since his return, Jhonnier has been determined to finish his studies and to help other children who are displaced or experiencing hardship. Jhonnier has organized workshops in dangerous communities locally and further afield on leadership, sexual and reproductive rights and peace-building. He leads a group in his community of more than 60 boys and girls, teaching them to use urban dance as a means of preventing violence. He also organizes reflection workshops for vulnerable young people, as a platform for dialogue. Through his actions, he has put leadership and peace-building in the spotlight not only at his school, but also in communities affected by conflict.
