Many children in Africa do great things to defend their rights: their activism should be recognized, supported and strengthened.

Mazidath's story

From an early age, Mazidath has fought for the rights of children in Benin, and engaged them in the process. She has been active in the National Children’s Advisory Board of Benin as Officer of Foreign Affairs. She has also participated in the Regional Youth Forum and the Global Partnership for Education. She collected data for alternative reports on the Convention of the Rights of the Child and on the African Charter for the Rights and Welfare of the Child. Mazidath’s actions have enabled thousands of Beninese girls to regain their confidence and to claim more space in the government of their schools and their communities. Mazidath is a role model to children and shows them the enormous potential of girls. In the future, Mazidath wants to be part of the national movement for girls.
