Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – it is going on when you don’t have strength. Never let the fear stop you from moving forward.

Shagun's story

Shagun, 13, lives in India. Through events at her school on International Human Rights Day she became inspired to become active in the field of children’s rights. Shagun is positive and very brave. She rescued a girl from violent kidnappers, for which she received a Commendation Certificate from the Lucknow District Administration. Her courage and enthusiasm inspires other children to take action against violence too. She speaks to students about incidents of childhood bravery and inspires them to stand up for their rights. In the future, Shagun wants to take more action to promote the right to education.
