I shall work to create an enabling environment in which children can continue their education. Because if they stay in school, they will grow.

Shirin's story

When Shirin, 15, was still very young, her parents wanted her to marry an older man, but Shirin fought hard, and succeeded in canceling the marriage. This motivated her to speak out in defense of other girls, and as leader of the Bondhon Child Forum, she has now stopped 14 other child marriages. She has also raised awareness of the issue through campaigning and theatre. Thanks to her, the community is now free of child marriage. Shirin has also saved 15 children from child labor and ensured their return to school. She has raised awareness in her community about the right to an education, and approached families directly, persuading parents of the benefits of schooling. Her dream in life is to become a doctor so that she can help disadvantaged children and women.
